BASW England: IRCSC 'Case for Change' Survey
The Independent Review of Children's Social Care (IRCSC) has recently released its 'Case for Change' report.
The report is described as an 'early attempt to synthesise what we have heard so far and transparently set out what we think the biggest problems in children’s social care are'.
The IRCSC team spoke with around 300 people working with children and families and 700 people with lived experience of children social care.
It is currently unclear how views from those working in children social care and with lived experience were garnered; how individuals or groups were contacted; or how diversity or representation was reflected across those who were involved.
The IRCSC team has requested feedback on the report, including on its interpretation of the evidence and the specific questions asked. The feedback on this will help shape the future work of the review.
BASW England will be submitting a response on behalf of members; and as such are inviting you to complete this survey. We are committed to advocating on behalf of social workers, and the children and families you support, to influence the review as far as possible. It is our aim that the voices of both members and people with lived/living experience are at the very heart of our response.

The deadline for responses is Friday 30 July.
Completed answers will be used in BASW's cohesive response to the review team. Answers will be anonymous, however will be embedded in terms of numerical data as well as direct quotes to be used in qualitative data. Your responses will be collated and key themes will be aligned with social work theory, research and other surveys. Please note that your answers will be anonymous unless you wish to be identified.
