As part of the ‘Social Work Stands Against Poverty’ campaign, BASW UK held a parliamentary reception in the Houses of Parliament on 27th March which was formally hosted by Alex Cunningham MP.
An investigation from The Observer has uncovered worrying high numbers of children are being are being moved to care homes more than 300 miles away from the communities they grew up in.
BASW England is deeply concerned about the Department for Education’s intention to develop what we perceive to be inadequate and unethical standards for children in care aged 16 and 17 living in unregulated accommodation.
