Over 100 civil society organisations – including BASW UK – have written to the Prime Minister, calling for the Government to abandon the proposed cut, which is worth over £1000 a year.
SWU members are now welcome to submit campaign ideas for issues and causes they’re passionate about throughout 2021-2022. Successful applications will receive funding and access to professional campaign support.
SWU is establishing a ‘campaign’ fund for our members to call on to ensure campaigns throughout 2021/22 can be responsive to changing priorities, quick to deliver and high impact.
All UK social workers are invited to attend and talk directly to SWU about any workplace issues they are experiencing. This session is free to attend and the webinar is set up so that questions can be asked anonymously.
Four social work students have each won £500 for their entries to SWU's WSWD 2021 Student Essay Assignment Competition, and two additional outstanding entries have been awarded prizes as well.
BASW also submitted an accompanying letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, highlighting issues that we feel are fundamental to improving the operation of the MHA, but which BASW felt were not adequately addressed in the consultation itself.
