BASW England is consulting with members on the proposals within the Health and Care Bill and the implications for social work. The Health and Care Bill was debated for the first time in Parliament on 14th July 2021 and BASW England has been following developments closely. The proposed changes will impact upon social workers working in and across social care and health.
This BASW England position statement has been formulated based on the feedback of members, social work academics, practitioners, managers, and students.
‘Social workers’ ethical response to Covid has gone far beyond the letter of the law and as a profession we need to continue acting on professional evidence and principles to promote the wellbeing of people we work with and our own wellbeing as a workforce, even as many public health restrictive laws are eased’
