The Children and Families Group is made up of BASW England members with a special interest in this area of Social Work. Members of the group are responsible for leading BASW England's position on Children and Families Social Work and assisting in the development of policy, practice and education.

Communicating and Engaging with Children Webinar - Professor Michelle Lefevre and Charlotte Jenkins reflect on the importance of play, wishes and feelings and life-story work, non-verbal communication and how to use supervision effectively.
Child Sexual Exploitation: A rights and relationship-based approach webinar - Professor Michelle Lefevre examines ways in which young people’s rights and autonomy may sometimes conflict with their safety.
BASWTalk – Ep 13 Family Court Proceedings - Julia Palfreyman and Ruth Hawkins (family law solicitor) discuss the social worker role with children involved in family court proceedings.
Workshops
Strengthening Performance in Children's social work - We run CPD workshops for children and families social workers in practice looking to refresh and develop their direct work skills. Details here.
Theory to Practice - We run these thematic workshops for social workers to come together and study, discuss and reflect on an area of theory with the ultimate goal of using it in practice. Details here.
Roundtable and consultation events - We sometimes run events to inform the work of the group. Attending these events are a great way to connect with social workers nationally and share experiences from the frontline whilst bulding your CPD. Details here.
