Each year as part of our celebration of the social workers we shine a spotlight on Amazing Social Workers.
A unique opportunity to recognise and share the accomplishments of social workers across the UK.
We feature Amazing Social Workers on the BASW website and across social media – recognising and paying tribute to their work.

Who should you nominate?
Each year we invite nominations for amazing colleagues including:
- Social workers
- Team managers
- Newly qualified social workers
- Students
- Practice educators
- Or even your amazing team!
- And others
It might be a colleague or someone who inspires you. You might want to recognise their work with individuals, how they have made a difference to someone’s life, for their contribution to social work policy, practice or education, they might be an influential leader, on the front line, a student, a role model, an innovator, or a champion for diversity and inclusiveness. The reasons are endless.
When are the nominations shared?
We share nominations in the run up and throughout World Social Work Month each March.
We will update this page when nominations open up for this year.
What is the judging criteria?
All nominations will be judged based on their outstanding contribution to the profession, or within your team. In particular we are looking for examples of excellent work in supporting people and nominations that demonstrate outstanding ethical practice in line with BASW's Code of Ethics
The nomination must only link to social work and their amazing impact. The person nominated must be a current or former social worker, or a student social worker, practice educator.
How do I nominate?
To nominate simply complete the online form along with (up to) 400 word description of why you are nominating this person. If shortlisted, we will ask for a photo and the nominated person's permission to share on the BASW website.
We will update this page when nomination forms open up.
