English language requirements for social workers consultation response
SASW's response to a SSSC consultation
Verbal communication is the cornerstone of good social work. Professionals need to be able to understand and communicate clearly with people across their communities. Workers need to be able to find support from their educators and employers to learn our complex local idioms and accents in a way that doesn’t exclude people from around the globe from becoming social workers in Scotland. We recognise the benefits of being bilingual, which can make people even better communicators.
