National Mental Health and Wellbeing plan: Learn more & help us shape BASW England's response
The Department of Health and Social Care recently released a ‘discussion paper’ for its National Mental Health and Wellbeing plan, which aims to build a mentally healthy society within the next ten years.
The paper explores what has been invested to date, future investment, the experiences of inequality and inequity in outcomes for many - and seeks broad views on what could be improved. A new suicide prevention plan is also being developed.
The paper seeks views around six key areas, which it states have been drawn up in consultation with people from the lived experience advisory network at NHS England and Improvement, which seeks to go beyond the NHS and include employers, the voluntary sector and society across all age groups. They are seeking support and ideas to develop a comprehensive plan that will help set and achieve a vision for mental health in 2035.

We will be holding an online workshop on 9 June from 9.30 to 11.30.
We’re also undertaking a survey - your responses will feed into the BASW England response to the paper.
This is an opportunity for us to look at the impact of current issues on the social work role, particularly around mental health - but also within other groups as good mental wellbeing should cut across all of society.
