New Deputy Chief Social Work Adviser appointed within the Scottish Government
The Scottish Association of Social Work warmly welcomes the appointment of Angela Latta as Deputy Chief Social Work Adviser (DCSAW) within the Office of the Chief Social Work Adviser (OCSWA).
Angela brings extensive expertise in children's services and child protection from her previous role as Interim DCSWA and Professional Social Work Adviser in the Scottish Government's Child Protection Unit, where she contributed to key national developments, including GIRFEC and child protection policy.
As the National Social Work Agency prepares to launch in 2026, her appointment alongside Joanna Macdonald as National Chief Social Work Adviser strengthens the professional leadership that will champion social work across Scotland. SASW looks forward to working with Angela and the OCSWA team over the coming year to promote and develop children and families services and ensure frontline social worker voices shape national policy.
Wishing Angela every success in her new role, and a happy festive season to all our colleagues across Scottish social work!
