BASW Cymru Adroddiad – Chwefror 2014/BASW Wales Report - February 2014

Mae’n bur debyg bydd y 12 mis nesaf yn adeg brysur iawn wrth i ni ddisgwyl am fwy o ddatblygiadau gwleidyddol a deddfwriaethol yng Nghymru.

Bydd Mesur Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol a Llesiant (Cymru) yn cychwyn ar y rhan olaf o’i daith ddeddfwriaethol yn fuan. Yna ceir adolygiad o’r ymatebion a gafwyd i’r ymgynghoriad ar y papur gwyn ar reolaeth ag archwiliad cyn i Fesur ar y mater hwn cael ei gyflwyno. Hefyd, er mwyn ein cadw ar flaenau ein traed, byddwn yn clywed yn fuan iawn am gynigion i adolygu gwasanaethau cyhoeddus yng Nghymru, gan nodweddu’r dewisiadau ar ad-drefnu llywodraeth leol.

Yma yn BASW Cymru, byddwn yn parhau i weithio i gefnogi gweithwyr cymdeithasol yn eu swyddi anodd, wrth i ni hybu’r safonau uchaf o ymarferiad. Er y toriadau yn y pwrs cyhoeddus, ni fedrem roi i fynnu ar y disgwyliadau i gyflogwyr cefnogi gweithwyr cymdeithasol wrth iddynt gadw at Godau Moeseg ac Ymarferiad i Weithwyr Gofal Cymdeithasol BASW.

Y papur gwyn ar reolaeth ag archwiliad

Mae BASW Cymru wedi cyflwyno ymateb ar yr ymgynghoriad ar bapur gwyn Swyddfa Llywodraeth Cymru. Os hoffech dderbyn copi o hwn, yna cysylltwch â’n swyddfa Cymru neu ymwelwch â www.basw.co.uk/wales. Gwahoddwyd BASW Cymru, ynghyd a phartneriaid eraill, i gyfarfod gyda’r Grŵp Ymgynghori ar Bolisi ar 14 Mawrth i drafod yr ymatebion ac i gynllunio’r camau nesaf.

Y diweddariad ar aelodaeth

Mae’r nifer o aelodau yng Nghymru wedi cyrraedd carreg filltir arall wrth i ni gyrraedd 1,104 erbyn diwedd 2013. Mae hyn yn atgyfnerthu’r dylanwad sydd gennym wrth weithio ar eich rhan wrth gyfarfod ag aelodau’r Cynulliad, staff Swyddfa Llywodraeth Cymru, Cyngor Gofal Cymru ag eraill. Mae bod yn aelod o’ch corff proffesiynol yn hanfodol - rŵan yn fwy nag erioed - felly dywedwch wrth y rhai nad ydynt yn aelodau am y gefnogaeth y gallent dderbyn gan BASW, yn ogystal â’r dewis o gael ymaelodi ag Undeb y Gweithwyr Cymdeithasol heb unrhyw gostau ychwanegol.

Swyddfa newydd i Ogledd Cymru

Mae’n bleser o’r mwyaf i ni gael cyhoeddi bod gennym swyddfa newydd yng Ngogledd Cymru, blwyddyn ar ôl cae’r un flaenorol. Roedd yn bwysig i ni gael swyddfa addas mewn safle hygyrch gyda chyfleusterau mae ein haelodau (a’n staff) yn haeddu. Mae’r swyddfa newydd ym Mhlas Eirias, Bae Colwyn  LL29 8BF (ffôn 01492 510332. Rydym yn gobeithio trefnu agoriad swyddogol i’r  swyddfa yn y gwanwyn a chewch mwy o fanylion am hyn yn y man.

Y rhwydweithiau annibynnol

Cynhaliwyd cyfarfod o Rwydwaith Annibynnol De Cymru ym Mhwynt Caspian, Bae Caerdydd ar 15 Ionawr gyda nifer da iawn yn bresennol. Mae’r grŵp yn tyfu ac mae mwy o ddigwyddiadau cadarnhaol yn cael eu trefnu am weddill y flwyddyn.

Fe gynhelir cyfarfod nesaf Rhwydwaith Annibynnol Gogledd Cymru yn y swyddfa newydd ym Mae Colwyn. Ewch ar lein os gwelwch yn dda i wneud yn siŵr o’ch lle.

Datblygwyd y Rhwydweithiau hyn i gefnogi gweithwyr cymdeithasol annibynnol yn eu gwaith, gydag agenda’r cyfarfodydd yn canolbwyntio ar anghenion penodol y rhai sy’n cymryd rhan. Fel arfer nid yw’r cyfarfodydd yn parhau am fwy na dwy awr, mae mynediad am ddim ac fe ellir defnyddio’r amser fel PRTL tuag at eich ail gofrestriad.

“Digwyddiadau ’machgen i, digwyddiadau ...”

Mae Pwyllgor BASW Cymru a’r staff yn cynllunio mwy o ddigwyddiadau yn 2014, gan ddechrau trwy ddathlu Diwrnod Gwaith Cymdeithasol y Byd ar 19 Mawrth ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd. Rydym hefyd yn gobeithio rhannu digwyddiad gyda Chyngor Dinas Caerdydd gan anelu at nodi’r digwyddiad rhyngwladol hwn ar 18 Mawrth.

Yn ddiweddarach yn y flwyddyn, rydym yn cynllunio ar gyfer ein Cynhadledd Flynyddol ym Mehefin a byddwn yn cynnal y digwyddiad i Wobrwyo Gwaith Cymdeithasol BASW Cymru yn yr hydref. Rydym hefyd yn gobeithio cynnig mwy o’n cyrsiau diogelwch cymeradwy ar-lein gyda’n partner, EyePat.

The coming 12 months look likely to be very busy as we await further political and legislative developments in Wales.

The Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Bill will shortly enter the final stage of its legislative journey. There will then be a review of the consultation responses to the white paper on regulation and inspection before a Bill on this issue is introduced. And, just to keep us on our toes, we are shortly to hear proposals arising from the public services review in Wales, featuring options for local government restructuring.

At BASW Cymru we will continue working to support social workers in their difficult jobs, while promoting the highest standards of practice. Despite cuts to the public purse, there can be not let-up on the expectation that employers support social workers in keeping to BASW’s Code of Ethics and the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers.

White paper on regulation & inspection

BASW Cymru has submitted a consultation response on the white paper to the Welsh Government Office. If you would like a copy of this, please contact our Wales office or visit www.basw.co.uk/wales. BASW Cymru has been invited to a meeting on 14 March with the Policy Advisory Group and other partners to discuss the responses and plan the next steps.

Membership update

Membership in Wales hit another milestone when it reached 1,104 by the end of 2013. This reinforces the influence that we are able to have on your behalf when meeting with Assembly members, Welsh Government Office staff, the Care Council for Wales and others. Belonging to your professional body is essential – more now, than ever – so please talk to non members about the support they can receive from BASW, as well as the opportunity to opt in to the Social Workers Union at no extra cost.

New North Wales office

It is with great pleasure that we can officially announce that we now have a new North Wales office, a year after the closure of the previous one. It was important for us to find a suitable office in an accessible location with facilities that our members (and staff) deserve. The new office is located at Plas Eirias, Colwyn Bay LL29 8BF (tel. 01492 510332). We are hoping to arrange an official opening of the office in the spring and will let you know the details nearer the time.

Independents networks

A very well attended meeting of the South Wales Independents Network took place on 15 January at Caspian Point in Cardiff Bay. This group is growing and more positive events are being planned throughout the year.

The next North Wales Independents Network will be held at the new Colwyn Bay office. Please book online to secure your place.

The Networks have been developed to support independent social workers in their work, with meeting agendas focussed around the specific needs of participants. The meetings are usually no more than two hours, attendance is free and the time spent can be used as PRTL towards your re-registration.

“Events dear boy, events ...”

BASW Cymru Committee and staff are planning more events for 2014, starting with a celebration of World Social Work Day on 19 March at Cardiff University. We are also hoping to share in an event with Cardiff City Council aimed at marking this global occasion on 18 March.

Later in the year we are planning for an Annual Conference in June and will hold our BASW Cymru Social Work Awards in the autumn period. We are also hoping to offer more of our acclaimed online safety courses with our partner, EyePat..
