Independents’ Committee
The purpose of the Independents Committee is to identify and prioritise the membership offer, services, and opportunities BASW provides to and for independent social workers and where relevant make recommendations to Council. The committee will provide a strategic direction for BASW’s offer and services to independent members, commissioning work as appropriate to support this activity. It will consult with and support the National Standing Committees to ensure the needs of independent members relevant to their countries are supported.
We are looking for four committee members who work as an independent social worker and are BASW members. Joining the committee is an excellent CPD opportunity to develop skills and support will be provided. Committee members should be effective communicators who can communicate the work of the Independents Committee to Council and to the wider membership.
The time commitment involves four one and a half hour scheduled meetings per year and attendance at the occasional thematic meeting plus time involved in reading papers in preparation for the meetings. Meetings will be held virtually wherever possible.
This is an unremunerated position although reasonable expenses for attendance will be paid in line with BASW’s Members Expenses Policy.
The initial term of office for committee members is two years.
